Construction along I-65 in downtown Louisville is affecting traffic near Ronald McDonald House Louisville and throughout the surrounding medical district.

If you’re visiting the House, please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution as you travel through the area. Traffic patterns, ramp access, and congestion may change as construction continues.

Current Closures Near the House

Several road and ramp closures may directly affect travel to and from Ronald McDonald House Louisville:

  • Muhammad Ali Boulevard under I-65: Closed to through traffic beginning August 25 for the duration of the project.
  • Brook Street near Muhammad Ali Boulevard: Closed under I-65 for the duration of the project.
  • Broadway under I-65: Closed beginning August 26 through approximately mid-October.
  • Southbound I-65 on-ramp at 1st Street and Chestnut Street: Permanently closed.

Signed detours are in place. Because construction schedules and traffic conditions can change, we recommend using a navigation app each time you travel to or from the House.

 Visiting Ronald McDonald House Louisville

Our House is located on 1st Street near Chestnut Street, close to ongoing I-65 construction.

Whether you’re staying with us, volunteering, preparing a meal, making a delivery, or visiting the House, please:

  • Allow extra time to arrive.
  • Check your navigation app (Waze is preferred) before leaving for the most current route.
  • Follow posted construction and detour signs.
  • Use caution around construction crews, changing patterns, and increased congestion.
  • Be patient. Your usual rout to or from the House may be different during construction.

Information for Families

If you’re staying with us while your child receives medical care, downtown hospitals remain open and accessible throughout construction.

We know navigating construction and traffic can add stress when your focus is your child. Whenever possible, we encourage families to use our complimentary shuttle rather than driving between the House and downtown medical facilities.

Ride Our Shuttle

Monday–Friday | 9 am –5 pm

Our complimentary shuttle helps families get to and from the hospitals without navigating downtown traffic, construction and parking.

Ask a member of our team for help using the shuttle or planning transportation during your stay.

Driving to Medical Appointments

If you need to drive, please allow additional travel time and check your route before leaving.

Access to downtown Louisville hospitals remains open, but street closures and detours may change how you get there. Follow posted detour signs and use your preferred navigation app for the best route based on current traffic conditions.

Stay Up to Date

The I-65 Central Corridor project will continue to affect traffic around downtown Louisville as construction progresses. Road closures, ramp closures and traffic patterns may change.
